Dr. Derin Patel is Board Certified Internal Medicine physician with over 10 years of experience. After graduating from Ross University, school of medicine, he completed his residency training at the University of Kentucky for Internal Medicine.
Dr. Patel practiced as a hospitalist in Owensboro, Kentucky for 2 years and then in Evansville, Indiana before moving to Texas and starting his own practice in 2018. His passion to educate his patients on their plan of care while taking the time to listen to his patients makes Dr. Patel a caring and compassionate physician.

Durga Patel has a MBA, specializing in Accounting from Devry University. She grew up in Chicago, IL and received her Bachelors in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She moved to San Antonio in 2017 and started with Hillside Primary Care in 2018.
In her free time, she enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with her family.
Mr. Luis Rangel joined Hillside Primary Care in 2018 as our practice manager and recently advanced to Director of Operations. He works closely with the management team and providers to oversee all aspects of the clinics, including daily operations, ensuring they run as smoothly as possible. Mr. Luis Rangel holds an EMTB certification and brings extensive experience in EMS, ER, and critical care healthcare administration. A native of Castroville, Texas, Luis contributes a wealth of leadership skills to his role at Hillside Primary Care. With his positive attitude and strong sense of humor, he leaves a lasting impression on everyone he meets while balancing his various responsibilities at our primary care clinics in San Antonio, Texas.

Mrs. Samreen Affan joined Hillside Primary Care at the beginning of 2020 as a front desk associate and quickly advanced to manager. Recently, she was promoted to Director of Compliance and Training. Samreen holds a bachelor’s degree in business management and finance. Born in Pakistan, she moved to San Antonio in 2012, where she furthered her education with a major in project management. With extensive experience in administration and management, she collaborates with the management team and providers to run our primary care clinics efficiently, overseeing staff recruitment, implementing regulations, and enhancing communication.
In her free time, Samreen enjoys painting, traveling, cooking, and spending quality time with her family.
Dr. Suneeta Naik is a Family Practice Physician with over 30 years of experience. She has been providing care to the Universal City community for over 10 years. She takes a lot of pride in caring, educating and providing compassionate, evidence based care to her patients.

Dr. Amita Kumar, MD, is a Canadian native and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. Her clinical practice focuses on preventive medicine, specializing in treating postmenopausal symptoms, diabetes, hypertension, and eczema. Her patients praise her for her caring and compassionate nature.
Before joining Hillside Primary Care, Dr. Kumar gained experience in both private practice and academia.

Mr. Garrick Naylor a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner originally from Brownsville, Texas. He obtained his undergraduate education through the University of Texas at Brownsville gaining experience in the long-term care setting and for over 6 years in the critical care realm. In 2015, he moved to San Antonio to continue working in the Intensive Care Unit. A growing desire for preventative care led him to pursue his Advanced Practice education through the University of Texas at Arlington. Garrick is fluent in English and Spanish and endeavors to provide quality, compassionate care as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Hillside Primary Care.

Roy is a US Army Veteran with over 20 years nursing experience in emergency and critical care and a resident of Schertz for the past ten years. He graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2020 as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Mr. Robert “Danny” Hernandez, FNP-C, is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Born and raised in San Antonio, TX, he also spent part of his life in Southern California. He earned his Bachelor’s in Nursing from UT Health Science Center in San Antonio in 2016 and worked as an RN for six years before completing his Master of Science in Nursing in 2021 from UT Arlington.

Patricia is a Nationally Board Certified Physician Assistant, originally from Corpus Christi, Texas. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2002 from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. She then received her Master’s of Science in Physician Assistant Studies in 2008 from the University of New England in Portland, Maine. She has over 12 years’ experience in pediatrics, primary care, internal medicine, urgent care, industrial medicine, and has a great passion for preventative and chronic care. She has been a resident of the Schertz/Cibolo area for over 5 years now and is excited to return to the Hillside Primary Care team and our patients.
In her free time, she thoroughly enjoys time with friends and family especially with her husband and two active children.
Mrs. Karen Johnson is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Karen received her Master’s of Science in Nursing degree and Family Nurse Practitioner certification in 2009 from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Prior to credentialing as a Nurse Practitioner she worked as a critical care nurse for over 20 years within the Methodist Healthcare System in San Antonio. She spent several years working as a Family Nurse Practitioner on the southside of San Antonio in a Family Practice Clinic.
Karen is a long-time resident of the Schertz/Cibolo area with all three of her children graduating from Samuel Clemens High School. After working numerous years in the San Antonio area, she decided to serve her local community by providing care to the residents of the Schertz/Cibolo community. She opened her own practice three years ago and is now merging with Hillside Primary Care Clinic in order to expand her career in the Schertz/Cibolo area.
Karen’s goal is to improve and maintain the overall health of each patient through providing high-quality care, preventative care, and early detection of disease. She has a passion for her patients and treats them all as family.
Flo is a Board-Certified Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner who was born and raised in Michigan where she began her nursing career and has over 16 years of nursing experience.
Flo Graduated in 2017 with a Masters of Science and Nursing Degree from Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan. She decided to go back to school for an Advanced Practice degree to better serve the healthcare community in a different capacity after her parents began to develop different medical issues that needed to be managed.
She has a 30 year and counting military career where she started out as a medical supply specialist, moved on to being a field medic, and now a nurse which displays her passion for healthcare and taking care of others.

Fatima El Maanaoui a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, originally from Casablanca, Morocco. I moved to USA in 2009 and decided to pursue my career in healthcare. I obtained my undergraduate education through IHCC in Iowa, and my master’s in nursing education through WGU. I acquired 6 years of experience in Intensive, telemetry and medical surgical care., and I also worked as a nurse educator for 2 years. After 6 years of bedside care, I decided to return to school and obtain my FNP degree through Graceland University, Lamoni. IA. I understood that being a primary care provider will give me the opportunity to make an impact in my patients’ overall health, by providing evidence-based care and preventative care services. Adams-Jeffrey Blanco, PA-C is a NCCPA Board Certified Physician Assistant who was born in San Jose, California and now resides in San Antonio, Texas. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences in 2015, worked in the laboratory with hematology and chemistry for 6 years and then earned his Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies at The University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley in 2021. He joined Hillside Primary Care in March 2023 to help perform procedures such as Joint Injection, Skin Biopsy, Trigger Point Injection, Headache Injections and more.
Adam is a health and fitness enthusiast who enjoys lifting weights and training martial arts including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as well as spending quality time with his wife and son. Juan Carlos Perez, FNP-C, is an AANP Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner born in Mexico who now resides in San Antonio, Texas. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2017, worked in the long-term care setting for three years, and advanced his education by obtaining his Master of Science in Nursing at The University of Texas at Arlington in 2022. Huy formally pronounced HWEE, and informally as Huey is a Nationally Board Certified Physician Assistant, born and raised in Richardson, Texas. He is a Marine Corps veteran, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Applied Learning and Development from The University of Texas at Austin in 2015 and then a Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 2022.
Huy is passionate about providing high quality, evidence based care for each patient, with an emphasis on taking the time to address the unique needs and concerns of each patient. In his free time, Huy will talk endlessly about dogs, fishing, camping, and volleyball.
Mrs. Abbi McDaniel, a Certified Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) originally from Evansville, Indiana, brings a wealth of experience to Hillside Primary Care. She completed her undergraduate studies at Ivy Tech Community College and the University of Southern Indiana and spent over six years working in critical care and medical/surgical areas in a hospital setting. In 2017, Abbi moved to northeast San Antonio with her family. Her passion for preventive care led her to further her education as an Advanced Practice Provider at the University of Texas at Arlington. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Abbi is dedicated to delivering quality, compassionate care to her patients at Hillside Primary Care.

Ms. Nadia Morales is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and also a certified wound and ostomy nurse. She was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Ms. Morales obtained her Associates Degree in Nursing at San Antonio College in 2012 and then obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Western Governors University in 2017. She pursued furthering her education and obtained her wound & ostomy dual scope education from WEBWOC in 2019 followed by her Advanced Practice education from Chamberlain University in 2022. She has worked in the acute care setting for over 11 years and has experience in medical/surgical/oncology units, progressive care unit, rehab, outpatient cardiology clinic and has 7 years experience specializing in wound and ostomy care. She is very passionate about caring for adults and older adults with complex medical, wound, ostomy needs and focus on prevention over cure.
Outside of her profession she enjoys dancing, singing karaoke, photography and spending quality time with her 4 boys Anthony, Aidan, Junior and Israel as well as her close friends and family.
Ms. Mariana Ontiveros is originally from Arizona and has been living in San Antonio after completing her masters program from Grand Canyon University in 2022. She is certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioner and has over six years of nursing experience with a majority of it spent working in critical care. While caring for her very sick patients in the ICU, she realized the importance of preventative medicine and chronic disease management. Mariana knew she would be able to make a positive impact as a nurse practitioner helping her patients stay out of the hospital in the primary care setting while providing holistic care. Her goal as an FNP is to ensure her patients have all the information they need about their health so they can leave their appointment feeling confident about their care.

Ms. Roselyn Omungo is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who is originally from Houston where she obtained her undergraduate nursing degree at Prairie View AM University. She has been in healthcare for 30 years, with experience in NICU, OBGYN, Cardiac care, and Flight Nursing. Her passion lies in primary care, specifically focusing on preventive care and patient education.
She had 3 children and resides in the Hill County. She is passionate about serving the community, encouraging healthy living and womens health. In her free time she enjoys riding her motorcycle wine tasting and crafting.

Emily Stansberry is a US Army Veteran and Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner originally from Orange County, California. I earned my Bachelors Degree in Nursing from Lamar University – Beaumont in 1999. I enjoyed a variety of nursing experiences before settling in at McKenna Memorial, now Christus Santa Rosa – New Braunfels in 2002. My nursing career was mainly there until I earned my Masters Degree in Nursing with a minor in Nursing Education in 2011. This led me to a career of 12 years at a community health clinic in Uvalde, Texas. During this time, I maintained a “work home” in Uvalde and my “family home” in New Braunfels. Now my goal is to continue my career with a permanent transition back to New Braunfels and surrounding areas.
My personal philosophy of practice is to develop the rapport necessary with my patients to collaborate on a plan of care that works for them toward their better health. This includes education and holistic care as well as traditional medical care.
In my spare time, I enjoy DIY projects in my home, camping in my little RV, and enjoying music festivals and live venues with a group of local musicians that I have come to love as friends and family. I also pursue my goal of life-long learning.
